The last time I went to the movies..

I have to admit, I don’t go to the movies as often as I used to. The reason is simply that I don’t have enough time. On weekdays, I spend most of my “after working hour” time commuting and somehow my weekends are filled with other activities… boohoo. I used to go to the movies at least twice a month. With friends, or mostly alone – it is one of my definitions of “me-time” and I really enjoy it.

The last time I went to the movies was to watch “Lucy”, directed by Luc Besson with Scarlett Johansson as, obviously, Lucy. Shortly before that, I watched “Guardians of the Galaxy” directed by James Gunn starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana to name a few. Though this review might be a little outdated.. I’m going to share what I think of those two movies.

Lucy

The movie is about Lucy. While she’s living in Taiwan, she got trapped into a situation which involved drug dealers and mafia. Long story short they injected a whole lot of amount of new drug to her body and made her a courier to ship the drugs to Europe. The injection made her body reacts in a way that mankind has never seen before. She is able to use her brain capacity 100%.

The combination between science and action make the movie very thrilling to me. Without the scientific part, I think the movie would be just an ordinary action movie. The action is not that great, anyway. But overall, I enjoyed watching it. It’s just the right amount of action to me, plus the scientific part made me googled stuffs about our brain, hahaha. It was quite interesting! Oh, another plus.. (this one’s for you men out there) Scarlett Johansson. Enough said! 😛

Guardians of the Galaxy

To be honest I was not really interested to watch this movie at first. Well, coming from a rom-com fan, the statement seems predictable, right? hehehe. I thought it’s just another Marvel movie. When I suddenly had to see it, I had no expectations at all. I even prepared a lot of snacks to occupy me IF the movie turned out to be boring for me. I was wrong. The movie is indeed one of the best movies I’ve seen this year! It’s funny and thrilling at the same time, plus brilliant soundtrack! It succeeded in grabbing my attention the whole time. Now I can’t wait for part 2!

So.. looking for DVDs to rent this weekend? try renting the above movies and see if you would enjoy it too. To end this simple-review, have a listen to Guardians of the Galaxy’s Awesome Mix Vol.1 below… enjoy! 🙂
