Hello from Bali airport!
I am writing this while waiting to board the plane… so, this weekend I was in Bali with my Thai friend from university who is doing an Indonesian trip together with her friends.
They have been to Bromo – Ijen and are now spending 4 days in Bali to close off the road trip, so I decided to meet them and spent the weekend here.
I decided to fly from Jakarta straight after work on Friday because I thought I wanted some me-time to relax. I browsed a hotel nearby the airport and found a hotel which seemed nice, with a lovely pool, and was on sale! So I booked it.
Because I arrived quite late on Friday night, I did not do anything else and just went straight to the hotel. I quickly checked in, was ushered to my room, and then rest. However I was not able to sleep properly… huhuhu. I remember waking up a couple of times in the middle of the night and felt strange, and I think I could only sleep well sometime close to sunrise. Weird… have you felt like that when you are sleeping in a new place?
My luck with the hotel did not get better in the morning. Initially I have plan to swim before I checked out and meet a friend of mine. I was excited, I already imagined feeling fresh because of the swim. But then… the swimming pool was under maintenance. Huhuhu 😦

After I checked out, I met an ex-colleague who is now staying in Bali for brunch. We went to Sisterfields – an old time favorite – and spent good two hours catching up before we parted ways. She is now working in hospitality business so she had to work, while I made my way to Ubud.

I already scheduled a head & shoulder massage session in Ubud’s Yogabarn. I’ve heard about the place a lot but it was my first time there. I loved it! At first I felt a bit out of place because I entered the place as a true Jakartan – rushed, and was surprised to see everything was in a slow pace. Everyone around me seemed so relaxed and content. It was something that I need to get used to but I came out of the place feeling exactly how I wanted to feel – content. I finally got the much needed me-time 🙂

Then it was time to meet my friend with her group. We decided to meet at Ubud to have late lunch at Bebek Tepi Sawah. It was so good to meet her after so many years apart! We were good friends back in my Bournemouth days, and last time we saw each other was in 2012 when I went to Bangkok.
We went straight to the hotel in Seminyak after our meal because they were knackered as they just hiked Mt.Ijen. But, we managed to have a foot massage nearby the hotel! 😀
Today was beach day. As usual I like to go to Ungasan area when it comes to the beach.. so I took them to Sunday’s Beach Club inside of Ungasan Villas.
Well, the beach club is a long-time favorite and it was still awesome! No further story about it as we were busy enjoying our time 🙂

We left the beach club shortly before sunset and managed to see sunset in a hidden spot on our way back, and now I’m at the airport waiting to board my plane.
Weirdly enough I don’t feel too good now as I suddenly felt nauseous and have crazy headache.. not a good way to end a good weekend! Ah well, life’s all about balance – isn’t it? I’ve had a warm tea and meal.. and starting to feel a bit better as I’m typing this. Let’s hope I feel ok soon, but for now I just want to reach my bed as soon as possible.
How’s your weekend? Hope it was awesome! x
Hope you have a safe and smooth flight ya Chi
Alhamdulilah lancar Puji, makasih yaa 🙂
Jadi kangen di pijet Chris baca postinganmu ini. Bener2 butuh dipijet ini punggung. Ah jadi kangen sama Bebek Tepi Sawah. Di sana pertama kalinya suami makan bebek. Kami akhir pekan ikut lari 10 km. Selamat bekerja kembali Christa. Semoga minggu depan selalu menyenangkan.
Hehehehe kalau di Belanda ngga ada pijet murah dan enak yah Den? kalau punggung pegel, minimal pakein Koyo/Tiger balm, mudah2an gampang carinya di toko Asia yah hehe. Kalau aku baca komen kamu malah udah lama nggak lari Den.. kangen ikut lomba jadinya 🙂

Never get bored of Bali, always love that place!
Sekedar suggestion, perhaps kalo abis check in late at night, have a warm bath and after that don’t go straight to try to fall a sleep, but try to read a mag or book or even flick on the telly…so your body not rushed to force to shut down, kan every thing needs process 🙂 Hope you feel better soon, take it easy, don’t be too stressed and take time to look after yourself. Take care Ta. xx
Oh my week-end was dolled up for the gala dinner and went to the beach on sunday!
Me too Ria, never get bored of Bali 🙂
