January is almost over and I can say it has set a pretty good mood for 2017 so far. Yay! I’ve started to do more of the things I like, and here I am on my 2nd #ChristaLikes post in this blog. In this post, I’ll share the things that I like this January, such as:
This newly opened coffee shop in Pondok Pinang.
The name’s Louie Coffee, and it was love at first sight. Located in Jalan Ciputat Raya No.5, it has a crisp, modern interior but with comfy sofas and all, making it the perfect spot for your remote work, meetings, hang out times, or even just a me-time over coffee.
As always, I ordered a cup of latte on my first visit andย the coffee’s just how I like it. Plus, the owner and the barista are really nice, which adds on to the reasons why I think I will be a regular there.
Faces and Places Book by Desi Anwar.
I’ve mentioned a bit about this book before in one of my older posts. This book is a compilation of Desi Anwar’s travel writings. She is one of Indonesia’s notable journalists so she has seen and been to a lot of interesting places. I normally only read novels for leisure and it’s actually my first time reading this kind of book, but I love it! It inspires me so much to be more observant during my travels and not to overlook the small things because really, you don’t know what you may find during your travels.
John Mayer’s new music.
Amidst today’s music that is full of repeatable beats and meaningless lyrics, John Mayer is back with his new music and I love it! So his new album is titled “The Search For Everything” and for some reasons, he decided to release it in batches, or what he called “waves”.

Wave 1 was just out last week and I’ve been playing it on repeat. Although I still feel that he has to comply with today’s music industry demands in some parts, all of the four songs still have his signature style. Do you like his music? What do you think of the new songs?
The movie that everyone’s talking about.
Yes, yes, I’ve seen La La Land and I think the movie’s utterly brilliant! I mean I am a hopeless romantic by nature so movies involving singing and sweet romance would always getย me, but this one’s special for several reasons.
First, I can’t help to think of R and our early days we spent hanging around LA. In fact, we did spend some good time together in Griffith Observatorium, just like Mia and Sebastian ๐ Second, I love the ending! It is so poignant yet beautiful at the same time, and although it breaks my heart but in the end, the smile explains it all to me. Third, the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Enough said. Fourth, Mia’s clothes. Fifth, LA’s skyline that is somehow pictured so beautifully. And last but not least, the music ๐
So.. have you watched the movie? What do you think of it?
The series that has gotten me all the feels.ย
Friends, if you are up for a roller-coaster emotional ride, I highly suggest you to start watching This Is Us. It is an American TV drama series about family starring Milo Ventimiglia (remember him from Heroes?), Mandy Moore and some others.
I can’t say much about the series without giving you some spoilers, but I will admit to the fact that I cried during every episode because, well, it is about family. I mean it’s not cheesy sad or anything, in fact, I think it is a warm series and gets me thinking a lot about life and the future family I’ll soon build with R. I’ve just started watching it this morning and decided to not do anything else today except finishing all 12 episodes in the first season, haha. It has been confirmed that the series will be renewed for its second and third season, so I’m definitely looking forward to it!
What are the things that you like this month? Care to share in the comment box below? ๐
Haha, I have wacthed La La Land too because of the many positive reviews that I read :P. It was indeed good! Even though at a few points I felt a little bit bored ๐ . But indeed, the ending was beautiful! It wasn’t exactly the typical happy ending, but it was still overall a happy one and “made sense”, somehow!! ๐
I know.. in the end it made sense yah Ko! Walaupun tetep aja ngenes nontonnya.. but that smile tho :))))))))
i love la la land and this is us too! ๐
Gak sabar season 2 nya this is us nih Man!

Ehh.. itu belum abis ya? hahaha emang sih gak berasa kayak finale, aku asumsi aja itu season 1 abis soalnya udah banyak berita soal season 2 :p

Hidup John Mayer! ๐
Idolakuuuu Wieennn โค
Hhmm…. Louie Coffee, reading the name I guess it seems that the coffee shop owned by a person who like things related to french/Italy, or it offers French/Italy coffee drink, hope my guess is wrong, I am not so sure, actually. ๐๐
La La Land, it’s a nice movie. Btw, is it true that it means the fantasty world that’s created by someone which then he/she forgets the real world? Besides that, there’s another one that is worthy to watch, I think, that is Arrival. Have you watched it? Eventhough these two movies are mostly talked about, but La La Land is more interesting in my opinion.
What things I like in this January? Not many, only two, but I don’t know whether these are cool and related with what you mean in your sharing of this blog.
First, things related to blogging in wordpress; tomorrow, it will have been 3 months for me keeping touch with it, ๐๐๐ it’s too shallow, isn’t it?
Second, it’s Mind Map theory and the application or the usage to my students at my school. It’s a quite effective method of learning to help students fixing their motivation in learning.
That’s all.
Hehehe I think Louie coffee simply comes from the owner’s name ๐ and yes I have seen Arrival too, it’s great! Got me a bit confused at some points but overall a pretty interesting movie!
Thanks for sharing your favorite things for this month yaa Desfortin! Keep blogging! ๐
Oya? Thanks for the reply.
Tetap semangat juga, mbak.
I successfully baked Japanese soft-cotton cheesecake! Oh the cake melts in my mouth ๐ I pretty much didn’t do anything except the usual hanging out, friend’s music show, et all. For me, winter is the time to get busy in the kitchen ๐
Oh woowww sounds yum Dit! ๐
Langsung cari This Is Us trailer di Youtube! Jadi pingin nonton ๐
Nonton deh Gy… recommended banget tapi siap2 tissue yah hihihihi
I’m amazed how coffee culture in Indonesian big cities is developing now. It results in cute little cafes like the one you share above. Well, this coffee culture dominates the world now as I see this also happens in the part of the world where I live.
This month I have been into water colour painting. I have shared my beginner’s works on Instagram but still don’t have the confidence to share them on the blog though ๐
Yes, as an avid latte drinker I’m up for this culture and I hope it will last long! Afterall it’s my long-time dream to have a neighborhood coffee shop one day, the one where I would have regulars and can greet them by name and favorite coffee, hehehe.. ๐
I like your work on Instagram Lorraine, I think they are really good because I would never be able to do something like that! I’ve always admired people who can paint/draw… when I all I can draw is hang man figure hahaha :)))) do share them in the blog when it’s convenient for you ๐
