An Unfortunate Event

Guys, I have been scammed. So recently I took on a freelance job that I found online and agreed to work on a project. I finished my work but then the client just vanished after I sent the invoice. I have no idea how to trace the client because all I have is her email, skype, and her profile on a freelance portal where I met her.

Shoot, even writing about this still made my heart aches. It sucks, really. The money is something, but what even makes it worse is that I actually gave the project all my best! 😐

I’m pretty sure even if I reported the profile, there’s very little chance that I will get paid. Ah well, I guess I should still report her profile on that freelance portal to avoid her from scamming others.

On a brighter note, my fiancΓ© has been very supportive about the whole situation. I know that he’s always the more logical one in our relationship and sometimes I can get annoyed because of that… but surely his logic really helped to lift my mood up in this situation.

Anyway, I feel slightly better now that I have written about this. I’m going to put this in the past and keep moving forward. Surely I learned a valuable lesson from this experience.

  1. Ouch…you have been scammed? By a woman?
That’s bad. How could that be?

If I were you, I should report this to the police, not only to the portal

  2. I’m sorry to hear that Christa. Is this the freelance website you told me when we met? Anyway, good for you for keep moving forward. Semangaaat πŸ™‚

  3. I am really sorry to hear that.

I think you need to report her indeed. And if the money makes it worth enough, reporting the case to the police might be an idea too. Though, I am not sure how far they can get with it…

    1. I have finally reported her to the platform. Not going to report to police though, too much effort for me.. I’ve learned my lessons and hope I won’t make the same mistake.

  4. Sorry to hear this, Christa 😦 Setuju sama saran ko Arman, next time sebelum mulai kerja, clientnya harus dimintain DP dulu πŸ™‚

  5. Feel you kak, so sorry to hear that. Kalau bisa sedihnya jangan terlalu lama ya kak, lesson learned supaya next time pakai DP.

Iya, amiiin, aku udah ikhlas hehehe πŸ™‚

  7. Sorry about the scam experience Ta 😦 it always sucks when it happens but no point in lingering in sadness. Good on you for being positive!

  8. Semangat Christa! I have been in the same position before, I even knew and have met the person and I spent all my new year’s week to complete her deadline but turned out they are just a really bad company, given false information, promising big money. I’d tell you what though, if the project is real (like they have real clients), it’s their loss, not yours!

    1. Ahhh that sucks 😦 I can only imagine! Companies like that won’t go far for sure… hopefully good karma has passed your way ever since πŸ™‚

  9. sorry to hear this. so many scams over at internet. make sure you find out as much information about your employer before you submit or make effort of anything.

    1. Iyaa nih bener, I was too excited at that time and did not do much of research. So reckless of me. Lessons learned though. Moga2 gak kejadian lagi. Thanks yaa πŸ™‚
