EF 18 – It’s Complicated!

Hellooo everyone! after a couple of weeks on hiatus, this week I am back participating in Blog English Club‘s English Friday! I know, I know, this post is not even posted on Friday but at least I am posting something :p. So this week’s topic is “What is complicated relationship for you?“.Β And I have just the perfect story to answer the question.Β  Continue reading “EF 18 – It’s Complicated!”

The kind of post that you won’t see often – OOTD!

Hello everyone! This week I’m back with a surprising post (haha!), well I can assure you that this is the kind of post that you won’t see often in this blog. But today, I’m doing it just for Blog English Club’s English Friday challenge.

This week’s challenge is… share your Outfit of the day (OOTD) picture!

Oh well, here’s mine :

OOTD πŸ˜€

As today’s a Friday and on Fridays we tend to dress down at work, today I’m wearing jeans. Yay! I normally wear jeans almost every day to the office when I was still holding my last position but since I moved to a new one, the new job requires me to dress more formal because I need to represent the company nicely. Anyways… here’s what I’m wearing:

Top: Cotton Ink – Archipelago series
Jeans: Uniqlo – Ultra Stretch Jeans
Shoes: Dexter Shoes at Payless
Bag: Marc Jacobs special items

Btw.. notice those prints? Yes – I love to wear prints, especially for my tops. In fact I don’t normally wear accessories and my shoes and bags are mostly in basic colors.. to complement my prints tops.

What about you, do you like to wear prints or prefer basic colors? Happy Friday! πŸ™‚

EF – Indonesian food

After missing last week’s English Friday challenge because I was away… This week I am back participating! Though a little late (am posting this on Saturday, not Friday as usual), Here’s my answer to the question: “what’s your favorite Indonesian food?”

At first I was going to write about Sop Buntut. Translated literally – Oxtail Soup. That’s what came to mind the first time I think about favorite Indonesian food. Then I thought about Soto. I also love almost all kinds of this Indonesian kind of Soup. Soto Betawi, Soto Ayam, Soto Bandung, Soto Padang. Ohhh no, I can’t resist them!

See, it’s a bit hard for me to choose a favorite, yet I haven’t even talked about other kinds of Indonesian food. Then I thought about comfort food instead. Oh this one’s easy. So I decided to write about it.

My comfort Indonesian food is Indomie. Yap. I don’t actually eat Indomie that often but when I do it instantly cures my bad mood or accute hunger.

My favorite flavor is Soto Mie flavor (obviously, haha), and it hasn’t changed since forever, even though they are now doing lots of innovation by introducing different kinds of flavors. But I like it classic, Indomie Soto Mie.

Although the picture above shows a fully garnished serving of Indomie Soto Mie, I like it simple – I can eat it without any garnish and I don’t need to have toppings. Just the noodle, that’s it.

So that’s my favorite Indonesian comfort food. What’s yours? Btw, still related to Indomie – have you seen this video? (better viewed with full tummy, or else! :p)

BEC – A letter to my younger self

Dear Christa,

This is you, 10 years later. I’m writing this letter from the future, how cool is that? πŸ˜€ You might wonder why am I doing this but it’s simply because I’ve been actively blogging now and I’m participating in a weekly challenge by Blog English Club and the topic for this week isΒ “Write a letter to the younger you“. Hehe. But it’s always good to hear from the future, isn’t it? πŸ˜€

Okay, so, a lot will happen in this 10 years period of time. You will lose, you will gain, you will travel, you will experience an interesting life. It will be one hella ride but we are never afraid of challenge, right?

Picture1
Taken on your first week of college

Remember that picture? it was taken a year ago and although you think things are not as bright as your smile or that yellow color of your jacket, it will not stay forever. Yes, you might just failed that introduction to accounting course. But I trust that you are going to work hard afterwards, and let me give you a hint: you’re going to make it!

Now I’m going to leave you with some advice; First, Embrace every moment. They will never come back to you. Second, never let someone else make plans for you (of course, family is an exception!).

Like I said, don’t worry, you’re going to make it πŸ™‚

Love – Future you.

BEC – Postcard from Santa Monica

This week’s English Friday challenge is to “Snap and tell a story“. The rules are simple; post a picture taken outdoors with a little story of the place where it was taken and why the particular picture was chosen for this challenge, all no more than 800 words. Got it! πŸ˜€

This picture was taken at Santa Monica Pier almost two years ago – September 2013 during my US Trip.

Taken from the Ferris wheel
Santa Monica Beach

Quite a view, isn’t it? πŸ™‚

I took the picture during a ferris wheel ride with my boyfriend. It was a sunny day and we’re enjoying the day around Los Angeles. Before the sun sets, we decided to go to Santa Monica Pier for a little sightseeing. While we were there, I saw the famous Santa Monica Pier ferris wheel and wanted to ride it, so we did. The scenery was beautiful, we were enjoying the moment, all good. Now here’s an interesting fact : My boyfriend is afraid of heights. But that did not stop him from riding the ferris wheel with me!

It was indeed, one of those moments that made you feel loved <3. And for that reason I chose to share this picture in this week’s English Friday challenge.

Ah, really excited that we will be reunited soon… I hope everything will go smoothly! Have a great weekend full of love, friends! πŸ™‚

Meet Candy, not your average girl.

Let me tell you about a girl named Candy. That’s not her real name though, but she does not want you to know that… so let’s keep this between us. Candy is in her early 20s. Maybe late. We don’t know her exact age, because she does not like birthdays. But one thing for sure, she looks young and vibrant.

Candy is preparing for her Hollywood round. Wait, what? Yep, you read it right. She just got a golden ticket from an American Idol audition in San Francisco and she is going to Hollywood! You see, Candy loves to sing, in private though. As an Asian-American, she has spent her life trying to make her parents proud. She maintained good grades since she was little, and sheΒ  even graduated from Stanford, with a degree in Computer Science. Her parents could not be more proud of her!

But, as they think Candy is away, building her career in Silicon Valley… she is not. In fact she’s been working as background singer from gig to gig in Los Angeles, and at the same time working on her own music. She’s been doing it for almost two years now, and finally she got the courage to audition for American Idol, in hope to make her dreams come true.

Now Candy is in a crossroad. She really, really wants this and is thrilled for the opportunities that may arise. But, she has yet to tell her parents about the whole thing and she thinks it’s not going to be smooth….

Candy’s story is, of course, fictional. She’s living a double life, having what is known to be called “Alter Ego”. I’m writing this as my entry for this week’s English Friday challenge by Blog English
Club. Read my other entries here, and I hope you enjoy them all! πŸ™‚

P.S: Would you think that Candy, by any chance, might be my alter ego? :p
