My Favorite Youtube Channels

Watching Youtube videos is one of my favorite thing to do to kill time. I like to watch everything from super cute panda videos to inspiring Ted talks (No, I don’t like cat videos.. I’m no cat person. Sorry! :p). Here are a few of my favorite youtube channels, perhaps you’ve seen them too?

Wong Fu Productions

Based in California, Wong Fu Productions go way back to 2003. But it’s not until four years ago that I first heard about them and instantly subscribed to their channel.. because of this short movie called “Strangers, again”.

It is a love story about a couple in a crossroads. Younger me found it really touching, I think I even cried a little bit :p Anyways, they don’t only make dramas and romantic movies, but also funny ones, and even a thriller movie! They recently launched a movie which sadly can only be watched through Vimeo… and as you all know, Vimeo is blocked in Indonesia 😦

BuzzFeed Video

Buzzfeed started as a social news and entertainment website. Basically the source of your daily laughs and entertainment. Their Youtube channel started in 2011 and have been providing us with funny-and-entertaining-sometimes-unimportant videos. Like this one:

They often have shorter videos, like this video about Indonesian food which went viral in my Indonesian network. All funny stuffs and can give you good laughs 🙂

Zoella

I have to admit the main reason I subscribed to her channel is…. her British accent! Hehehe… Although she is considered a beauty blogger, I rarely pay attention to her beauty tutorial, although I find her shopping haul videos are very interesting 🙂 But really, she is just so cute! plus.. watching her talking about Primark can really bring a lot of good memories :p

Fung Bros Comedy

Another California-based Youtuber, the Fung brothers; Andrew and David post videos every Tuesday and Thursday. They post videos on Asian-American life which I personally think is interesting.. in a funny way, hence the channel’s name. Think you’ve seen them somewhere? Well.. chances are you might have seen this viral video on Indonesian food..

Thought Café

This channel is a recent addition to my subscriptions list. It is a very informative channel, with videos on world history and popular topics delivered with an interesting and easy to understand graphics. Thought Cafe is the design team behind Crash Course, another cool and informative Youtube channel. The videos are so easy to understand and interesting to watch!

Well.. that’s 5 of my favorite Youtube channels. There are more on my subscriptions list, including awesome musicians like Sorah Yang, Fathia Izzati (she’s Indonesian!), and a lot others… but I’ll have to write a separate posts just to review my favorite Youtube musicians 🙂

Anyway.. do you go to Youtube often? any favorite channel from your end?

Saya lagi merasa waktu kok kayaknya berjalan cepat sekali. Seperti orang kebanyakan, kalau sedang merasa sibuk, saya pasti nyalahin kerjaan. Kerjaan banyak, jalanan macet, jadi nggak punya waktu.

Kalau di acara sepupu saya, saya pakai seragam sepupu-an, tapi sayangnya saya salah pilih salon, jadi hair-do sama make-up saya rasanya ngga banget, terlalu tebel dan rambutnya dikonde tinggi banget! hahahaha.

Anyway, acaranya seru deh. Saya ketemu banyak teman lama dan wedding band nya bagus banget, bikin saya joged – joged semaleman. Pilihan lagunya juga nggak mainstream.. kalau di acara kawinan biasa kan lagunya udah ketebak ya, kalau ini tuh ada “I love you always forever – Donna Lewis” dan juga “The most beautiful girl in the world – Prince” segala! Seru ya 🙂 Pokoknya saya senang sekali deh weekend itu, walaupun hari minggu nya rada kecapean hehehe

Nah, weekend yang lalu, tanggal 16 Agustus, saya dan rekan – rekan dari Indonesia Mengglobal menyelenggarakan seminar pendidikan, judulnya “Pursuing Graduate Study in the US” di @America Pacific Place. Saya disitu tugasnya belakang layar, ngurusin social media dan live tweet. Walaupun capek, tapi saya senang sekali melihat antusiasme para peserta seminar. Setelah seminar tanggal 16 Agustus kemarin, kita sekarang sedang mempersiapkan seminar serupa, tetapi berjudul “Pursuing Undergraduate Study in the US” untuk tanggal 30 Agustus nanti. Wish us luck ya! 🙂

Tanggal 17 Agustus nya saya seharian running errands dan malamnya (lagi – lagi) ke kawinan temen kantor saya. Hahaha. Speaking of 17-an, nuansa 17 Agustus-an nggak terlalu kerasa buat saya, selain.. well, saya pakai kebaya warna merah waktu ke kawinan. hehehe.

The Sound of Settling” (aduh, bahasanya baku amat! :p). Saya lagi sering dengerin band ini lagi, soalnya baru ketemu albumnya lagi..hehehe. Enjoy, and have a nice day! 🙂

Music Lately

Last month I bought myself a new iPod nano, 16 gb (YAY!). The last time I had an iPod was back in 2009 before my good ol’ iPod classic (80 gb) decided to die on me. Ever since I only listened to music from my phone and online radio… while saving up to buy a new iPod.

I wanted to buy iPod classic due to its capacity but when I think of it again… the size makes it not easy to bring anywhere. I think I’m gonna buy one when I have my own place, and will just put it in an iPod dock and let it play good music all day long 🙂

Anyway, I decided to buy iPod nano instead (enough capacity, perfect size – easy to bring anywhere), and now that I’ve bought it.. I’ve been spending a lot of my free time browsing and listening to music.. and then choosing the songs that I’m going to put into this iPod.

And now.. Here are some songs and albums that I’m currently listening to :

Ed Sheeran – One (From the album “X”)
Ed Sheeran is back! this is indeed a sad but beautiful song..

Sam Smith – Lay Me Down (From the album “In the Lonely Hour”)
Many have said that he’s male Adele as he’s also British. I kinda agree.. his songs are somewhat similar to Adele’s but.. I still can’t help to fall for his voice. Very enjoyable song, and album!

Gabrielle Aplin – Home (from the album “English Rain”)
Another British singer I currently love..

Okay.. now it’s time for more upbeat songs :

RAC – Cheap Sunglasses  feat Matthew Koma (from the album “Strangers”)
They are coming to Jakarta! wooot! Sunday, August 24. Cant wait!

MO – Don’t Wanna Dance (from the album “No Mythologies To Follow”)
With its catchy beat, this song has been my current mood booster!

What do you think of these songs? Do check them out and hope you’ll love it as much as I am! 🙂
